Introduction

Welcome to Taming the Tiger VT!

“If anybody knows how to regulate affect, they have the keys
to the kingdom.”
– Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.

Why Body-Based Techniques?

“The body is the repository of all experience and the springboard for all behavior.”
– Dr. Elia Vecchione, Ph.D.

The body is the battleground when it comes to trauma, attachment disorders, and behavioral problems.

The body is the most effective and efficient way to approach behavior change and relief from symptoms.

Behavioral difficulties always indicate distress and historical responses to distress, not poor choices.

Body-based techniques allow us to manage our body and our behavior.

Managing our body state allows us to be our authentic selves.

What we need are skills that help us manage our bodies and our arousal, so we can manage our behavior.

We are often told to do things like breathe and walk but rarely told how or why.

What we have here are ten practical body-based techniques that are well researched and easy to learn and use, that quickly help us change our state and behavior.

Learn them from the videos and use them immediately to help us to calm our bodies, re-engage with others, and behave reasonably.

Develop a practice with these new skills… and get on with the changes you would like to make in your life.
